Character Application Form

Before you may begin roleplaying on Chronicles of Indur, you must submit a completed character application and await approval. While we prefer it if you use the format included below, you are free to revise it into any form as you please so long as the required information inquired about in the basic template is included in your application in some form or another. This means your submitted application can be minimal in information so long as we are given enough to properly judge your character. By no means do we want to dissuade a member from joining because the application may appear daunting.

Once your application has received a stamp of approval you are free to begin making In-Character posts on the forum. However, please make sure that your display name matches your character's first and last name, and that you have a link in your signature that leads to your approved profile. If you receive a Thread of Arcanum link (explained further in the Magic section), please be sure to include it into your signature as well. Thank you!

Character Name:
Race: Your character's race. The indigenous races of Indur are comprised of humans (who can potentially also be Desertkin), which are the predominant race, followed with a smattering of elves and dwarves. Other indigenous races do exist, and you are perfectly within your rights to make one of these other races up; just keep in mind that they are considered very rare, so would not have a thriving metropolis of their own. Depending on how unique this race is, we would ask that you include as much information as humanly possible. Also, it is important to note that you may only play a race that is capable of being slain by mundane means.
Affliction: Does your character have an affliction that is native to Indur? If not, leave this area blank.
Gender:
Age:
Birthing Day: You may find the calendar here.
Affiliation: Who is your character aligned with?
Place of Origin: Where your character is from. Is he a Native (Ardenthian or Cadmian) to Indur, or is he a Realm Drifter?
Current Residence:
Occupation: You may find a list of Indurian jobs/occupations here.
Guild/Order: Does your character belong to any player-created guilds? View the Guild Recruitment forum for a list of guilds and orders available for joining. Before submitting your application, you must PM the respective guild leader about your character to ensure your rank and/or idea is acceptable. If you do not belong to a guild, you may leave this field blank.
Deity: What god does your character worship? Or do they go the more atheistic approach and are a Parcinthian? Please be aware that Kyther gods hold no dominion over Arilu. Your character may continue to worship their pagan god none-the-wiser, but any powers given to them from their original god will have now been supplied by an Indurian god.
Marital Status:

Complexion:
Hair Color:
Eye Color:
Height:
Weight:
Build:
Description: Remember that all native Indurians possess the cosmic tattoo, which is located either around their wrist or across their forehead. Realm Drifters are not given this tattoo under any circumstances.

Personality:
Knowledge: Any and all important pieces of knowledge your character may possess, for example: how to tourniquet a wound, or be diplomatic in even the worst of situations.
Skills & Abilities: Any particular skills or abilities your character may have picked up throughout the course of his life, or even have derived from his trade.
Magic: While characters are allowed to start off with magic, and are allowed to be fairly powerful, we ask that you try and find some way to balance things out if you're aiming towards the high end of being powerful. Now, if you're uncomfortable with listing out a weakness meant to help balance out your character in this sheet, we will work something out behind the scenes. We will create a thread for your character in a hidden forum that only staff members can view. This thread (known as a Thread of Arcanum or ToA) will keep track of the weaknesses you have decided upon, as well as anything else you'd like to keep hidden from public knowledge, but at the same time that we need to  know about. Also, magic is held in reverence here on CoI. It is a mysterious thing that the common man has no understanding of. Normal NPCs (maybe even PCs) are going to either respect, fear, or hate you for being a magic-user; even if you are a native Indurian. So, be aware of that when roleplaying out your magic on CoI. Also, do not go sparing on the detail when describing your magic. Please be aware that if it is felt that your magic is simply too unreasonable, we will be forced to ask you to make revisions. Don't make us do that. We really hate doing that. As an added side-note to this massive paragraph, death is a very finalized event on CoI. That means that resurrection abilities and/or spells do not work here, with the exception of such things as vampires or liches.

Weapons:
Armor:
Miscellaneous: Please keep in mind that while characters may begin play with one magical item, it must be of minor significance.

This section is entirely optional. However, if you would like to receive a special In Character post to your application itself, you will need to include at least three substantial paragraphs to your history. After you have been approved, feel free to request an In Character post here.

Here on Chronicles of Indur, you are allowed to be in as many threads as you please. We only require two things of you: 1.) Only make new threads in the present season we are playing in, and 2.) Time-Stamp your threads and keep track of their order here in your character sheet. If you intend to be in many threads, we recommend giving the Time Log an entirely new post (reply) to your application to ensure plenty of room for your recordings.

As characters live their lives and progress within Indur through the role-playing of the players, they are bound to find and obtain items of great importance to any particular plot line, as well as new objects of magical merit, and as characters grow, they will begin to be capable of performing new feats and learn to conduct new spells. As these items, skills and magics are acquired, they should be edited into the character sheet, along with a link to the established Role-Play as well as a description of what the item is used for - in the case of plot items - or what it is capable of - in the instance of magical item, or an elaboration of any spell or ability.

It should also be mentioned that we moderators reserve the right to deny the acquisition of any magical item, ability, or spell if we deem that the Role-Play in which it was found is insubstantial in proportion to the value and power of said item, skill, or magic. As edits are made, it would be appreciated that a notation is made via "bumping" the thread of the character sheet, citing that modifications have been added. In addition, we request that with any item, ability or magic that might be considered very powerful, a PM detailing the necessary information is sent to a member of the administration [(presently Lakhesis or Sela) to be approved or disapproved prior to the edit. This category also functions best if given it's very own entire post (reply) to the character application.
