The rules:
Matches will have a time limit of 20I.C. Hours, give or take (5 O.O.C Days)
The victor of the match will be seeded to the next round
Under no circumstances Can you gouge your enemy's eyes, however, throwing dirt is fine
No low-blows, The first one will cost point deductibles, and the second one will force the offender to forfeit
The victor will be decided under any of the following circumstances, but not limited to: disqualification, loitering (If the RPer doesn't post for an extended period of time), Death, KO, Forfeit, and judge scores
The Scoring system:
There will be ONE impartial Judge overseeing each battle. The judge will Announce the final decision made by an Impartial pannel of scoreboard keepers. Each contestand will have three different categories to score five points, the five given to the person who clearly excelled the other one. The scores are tallied up, and then the Judge shall announce.
The scoring shall be as followed:
Quote
Creativity: Participants shall be judged on the creativity and originality of their posts. This category includes, but is not limited to, their personality, ways in which they react, and forms of combat used.
1 - the character was perfectly predictable. Boring reactions and just a completely stagnant character.
2 – the character felt monotonous. Didn't explore all the possibilities of their character
3 – the character plays by the book. Never broke his/her character sheet.
4 – the character pulls off a trick or two that he/she wouldn't normally do.
5 – the character was full of surprises. Kept the spectators on the edge of their seats for the next move.
Realism: This category is used to judge how realistic the character is in an overall sense. Did the dialogue, if any, make sense and add to the overall experience? Was the environment incorporated into the roleplay? Did he for some reason ignore his opponents actions or even forget the effects of a spell cast upon him or his adversary? Did the player stay true to his character (ie remain IC)? Did the participant refuse to take hits that should have hit him? Perhaps most importantly, were the character's strengths and weaknesses properly portrayed within the post?
1 - The character somehow managed to forget that his leg was broken and fight perfectly fine without being inconvenienced, or a character power-played or god-moded. Realism clearly went out the window.
2 - The environment was not incorporated, he failed to notice an action taken by his opponent, or there were other significant errors that went against being realistic.
3 - It was a fairly realistic post, though something seemed lacking or there were still several minor issues with the post itself, such as having an injury and forgetting about it, but remembering the injury in a later post.
4 - Realism was adequately portrayed by the participant, though perhaps he refused to take certain hits that he should have and instead pulled ridiculous stunts to avoid them.
5 - Everything was taken into account and clearly explained. It was as real as it gets. Bravo.
Writing: This should be considered the most important category. Participants shall be judged on a vast array of things within this category. Was the post comprehensible? Were there so many grammar and spelling errors that the post itself was indecipherable? Were good metaphors or similes used? Was the post descriptive, or was it repetitive? Was the post an adequate length, too long, or too short?
1 - The post was nigh unreadable, either due to significant spelling and grammar errors or sheer abstractness. The post was incredibly boring, and was too short (one paragraph).
2 - There were a few spelling and/or grammar mistakes.
3 - The judge was forced to read over the post several times to clearly grasp it. It was fairly descriptive, but it was also repetitive.
4 - There were minor spelling and/or grammar mistakes. The post, and writing quality overall, was pretty good.
5 - There were absolutely no spelling and/or grammar mistakes. The post made for a very interesting read, and was very descriptive.
Also, there will be a participant cap of 16 participants, no more no less. They will be announce in

But Men disregarded this treasure, and whilst life kept smiling, men kept kicking destiny.
If Someone reads this letter, don't ever forget that the end of civilization was caused by egoism, greed, and the uncultural behavior of the human race. We men are no longer mammals, human beings did not turn into predators; the human race is simply a virus, we kill, we grow, and we multiply.
That's why we extinguish, that's why water swallowed our civilization: The true finali tierra was us. And that is why I leave this note written, for the next upcoming inteligent lifeform.

Looks EXTREMELY good, but for the rules, maybe something for powerplaying? First offense is warning / points, second offense is forfeit?
Anyways, I'm definitely in

I think its common knowledge that you don't power play. People on this site and very fair when it comes to fighting, I do not think we would have an issue with it. Then again, just in case perhaps we should write something in the rules.

Yeah, I understand that - but as you said, just for precaution, you never know.

The rules look alright to me. As Valian said, a note in there against power-playing would be prudent. I think monetary awards would make this popular, especially among the lower class. What are the rules regarding magic, both ICly and OOCly?
Also, we should make note that if you enter your character, it is important that you are committed to the time length. That is, if you have to forfeit for RL, that's fine. But don't neglect posting.
This would be set up in Dimesca, Cadmia and for Kythers? Okay. That's not going to work for Cadmia, as Kythers wouldn't be fighting anyhow. However, I think holding a fight in Dimesca open to Kythers would be interesting. It could, theoretically, be approved by the Grand Council. A bunch of Kythers fighting each other without the River Guard even getting involved? Win-win.
Anyhow, the rules are shaping up.

I dunno, I could totally see kythers fighting in Cadmia.
Slave owners might want to pit their slave against a friend's slave.

The idea Eddy was proposing was that it was actually hosted by his underground guild, Adelphos. He said something about having a Coliseum that the characters would get to use out in the desert I think? I will let him clarify all the details, but this wouldn't occur in the city and you only hear it if you happen to know someone who knows someone

I don't see how that at all affects my statement.
Lord 1: "Hey Bill! I know someone who knows someone who says there's a a fighting tournament going on. Want to have our slaves wrassle to the death there, loser buys dinner?"
Lord 2: "Absolutely, yes."

No one cares about you Teb.
Oh I am sure people will pit their slaves against eachother and pocket the money, if the slave wins. We will just have to see how everything unfolds.

I sincerely hope you two pit your characters against one another. Immense amusement on my part.
Carry on.

*ahem*
Well, Zoey wanted me to inform/clarify about the following things:
Regarding the Coliseum:
Yes, the tournament will partake in Adelpho's Underground coliseum (Not because it's my guild, but because It's the only mention of a coliseum I've seen in the Board). The location will be hidden until further notice. Descriptions, special arrangements, location, hosts, sponsors, etc will be Revelaed at the End of Spring (RP wise seasons), It will all be played out via IC Chat RPG, And will later be posted for everyone to read.At the end of the post we will provide a link to the thread where you can sign up IC to participate. Before you do that, you will need to sign up in our OOC thread so that we know who will be participating and we can have the judges look over your Character Application so that we know your abilities, strengths and weaknesses. For now we are going to sign up only 16 players. Unless there is a huge interest shown in this and we can somehow make it to 32 characters.
Quote from: Zoey on March 15, 2010, 02:35:36 PM
Once we have all of the spots taken by players we will start a thread for each p.v.p fight. You will have
five
OOC days to fight, but this will only equal
one
IC day. The first portion of the day will be you fighting, and a winner will be declared at the end. You will then move on the second portion of the day where you will have time to get your wounds taken care of by a provided healer, this of course will be a separate thread. We will keep the IC posts for the second portion of the day after every fight in the same thread separated by a date. All characters can partake in this thread, even the characters that lost.
Rewards
First Round - The losers will receive 100 Asurs for good Sportsmanship. The winners of round one will receive 200 Asurs each.
Second Round – The losers will keep the money they have earned thus far. The winners will receive 500 Asurs each.
Third Round - The losers will keep the money they have earned thus far. The winners will receive 750 Asurs each.
Fourth and Final Round - The losers will keep the money they have earned thus far. The winner will receive 1000 Asurs. Also, the winner will receive new armor. (If you want anything special, like having magical properties you will need to get Mod approval)
That is All:

Eddy, could you go ahead and edit your initial post with all this updated info that's been discussed? That way we can have one write up instead of a bunch of pieces spread among different posts.

Is the initial post completed? If so I can move this into its own write-up. If the initial post isn't completed yet, can it please be done before I take any actions?
Thanks.
